Day 14-A Biking and Hiking Sort of Day Part 1

We packed up our homes, and moved out of Sisters at 7:30ish this morning. We could have followed the Sisters to Smith Rock Scenic Bikeway, but we followed the Trans Am. Some of it was the same, but the Trans Am was more direct. It was still a good route.

Another fine view of the Three Sisters.

The Deschutes River

I was happy to see we would go by the Alpaca Ranch.

Freshly shorn, me thinks.

So cute!

Well hello! Look at you sporting your 80s leg warmers!

We also saw a fair number of farm equipment going by.

Doug and John…Deere that is!

We came down across the Deschutes and to a nature preserve. We pulled off for a snack. I saw this little critter.

Another touring cyclist pulled off too. His name was Chuck, and he was riding westbound. He is the first westbound rider we have seen. He said he left home in South Carolina on April 3rd. He rode to Yorktown and started riding west. He said he started too early (but he has a wedding to get to in Seattle…he used to live in Olympia!). He had four days of snow in Colorado. We gave him what intel we had. I asked to take his photo since he was the first westbound cyclist.

Chuck from S. Carolina.

Climbing up from the river we stopped to take this photo.

Big rock!

When we arrived in Terrebonne, I texted Jen as she was coming out to Smith Rock to hike with us. We went on to the State Park and the bivouac camping area. We were just finishing some lunch when Jen arrived. We packed some water, and headed out for the hike….
