OBC Day 4-Let’s Just Climb All Day Long!

Today was an epic day, not necessarily in distance (29 miles), but we climbed about 4200 feet, and quite a bit of that climbing required us to push our bikes. We rode/walked for 11 hours. Since I’m kinda tired, I’ll just let some photos tell the story.

Willow Creek Hot Springs pools in the morning

Ready to get rolling.

What kind of “road” is this?

Sky looking ominous

Jana riding up one of the steeper ones

Across the canyon that you can’t see, we came down that road, and across a creek, then started a 6.2 mile climb.

REALLY ominous skies. It did end up raining. But as has been the case so far, it doesn’t last long, or really even get the ground wet.

Cave!

On the precipice of death

Bikes resting.

Pano of Oregon’s Big Country

Stubby little lizard

Giant puff ball

See the snow? We ended up climbing over those mountains

Another episode of creative umbrella use. Lunch in the shade.

A change in vegetation along with the climbing.

Way way off in the distance is Alvord Lakebed. We were there yesterday.

Still climbing.

Jana was having problems with the altitude, and needing to take frequent breaks. Here, I was waiting, sitting in my chair with my sunbrella.

Only one more climb to finish the day (after this one).

Now for the glorious downhill!

Into the canyon…

Through a tunnel of green…

To our campsite by Trout Mtn Creek.
