12/20-Capilla de Mármol-Part 2

So, we had been in and out of caves, and along formations that looked like various animals.

Looking out from the inside.

The Alex animal.

La tortuga

The Markus animal

Un perro.

Then we motored to the most famous Marmol. First there’s a bigger one that is also pretty well photographed.

Mother Nature’s art.

Here we encountered a pack of wild kayakers.

Around the corner was the smaller, but more famous one.

It seems as if it is barely supported. I’m sure in the not so distant geological future, it will topple into the lake (hopefully no wild kayakers will be hurt).

A different angle.

This was our turnaround point, but we still ducked into a few more places.

The water was so clear. We were told you can drink the water straight from the lake. Good to know!

A lone kayaker separated from the pack.

We arrived back at the dock after a most excellent adventure. We all agreed it was very worthwhile, and we are glad we did the boat instead of the kayak. We got to see way more than we would have in the kayak.

We went to the same place for some lunch that we went yesterday (oh, we also stopped there when we first arrived in town). The same guy has waited on us all three times. I told him we wouldn’t see him again as we are leaving tomorrow. He said, “See you again!”

By the way, on this, the second longest day of the year, here in Puerto Rio Tranquilo, it is a balmy 74 degrees. Yeah, it’s good to be in Chile!
