1/11-And Then We Were Five!

Ally and Alex ended up at the same place last night (not camping, but in the hotel). We got out ahead of them, but they caught up to us at the pink house.

It’s an old abandoned hotel.

Steve and Lani were here!

There are several rooms.

Everyone signs the walls.

The five of us rode the rest of the day together. We saw more guanacos.

We see you guanaco!

Nando (South American flightless bird like an emu or ostrich).

We had one rather long climb.

Snack break before the climb.

Coming down the other side (there are a bunch of guanacos in the center of the photo).

The line of Alex, Ally, Markus, and Alex.

Coming down another descent, we could see the turquoise lake.

El Calafate is across the lake (still about 55 kilometers away).

Another Matt sighting!

We approached our wild camping spot on the river. It’s a great spot with plenty of space for our three tents.

The wind has continued to blow, but we are fairly protected by the trees.

Tomorrow we will make it to El Calafate. It will be Alex and Ally’s last day. They will return to Buenas Aíres, where they live.
