Day 32-Two Passes, One Climb, and the Mosquito Gauntlet

So, I was almost finished writing this post, when it just disappeared. I’m sorry, but I can’t bear to rewrite the whole thing. Here’s some photos…

Climbing Lost Trail Pass

The rest area at the top is on the border of Montana and Idaho.

We then climbed an additional mile to Chief Joseph Pass. CDT crosses the road.

Highest Tilmann has been. 7283 feet.

Stopped at Big Hole National Battlefield Visitor’s Center.

Where the battle took place.

Selfie while riding through Big Hole Valley (Beaverhead Mountains).

Swarmed by mosquitoes when I got off to take this photo.

Wisdom where conventional wisdom is to not stop, or you’ll get swarmed by mosquitoes!

Long straight road to Jackson from Wisdom. If we slowed down to less than 10 mph, the mosquitoes could keep up. It was a hard 18 miles trying to out ride the blasted bastards!

Doug and the Beaverheads.

We arrived in Jackson only to find out the road construction crew has taken over the hostel. The Jackson Hot Springs Lodge is not open, but the guy is letting us stay here (camping in the back). He still charged us $25 each, but let us come in to take showers. There are two other cyclists here that passed us this morning. It’s because of Catherine and John that we found out we could stay here. Above is all our bikes parked against what are probably some nice rooms…oh well…
Sorry you are not getting the whole story…I’ll have to tell you all when I get home.
